"chickenpox virus can come back as shingles! Ouch. So there is a place for vaccine."

Beg to differ, Sir.

If children were getting chicken pox and adults were exposed to the virus, they are naturally boosted and shingles is avoided. The chicken pox vaccine stopped the adult exposure and created the shingles epidemic.

that makes sense... Thanks for input and proper understanding of shingles... I got the "old" shingles shot at 65.. but declined the "new" shingles shot which "covers five or six more strains" or some such BS. I just don't trust my doctors any more to understand.... I also declined the tetanus shot because you cannot get simple adult DT shot-- they "HAVE" to give a DPT shot.. no thanks - Ditto on the "pneumovax" shot. Got that at 65 and my arm blew up edematous. My GP wanted to give me the upgraded shot with "more types covered." Again NO THANKS... So as a doctor I am exercising my right to say No.

I am pointing out that without a chicken pox vaccine, children constantly expose adults to the chicken pox virus. Adults will be naturally boosted, will never develop shingles and therefore there is no need for a shingles vaccine.
