Oh yes, simple farmer and outstanding scholar Victor Davis Hanson starts putting it all together through the lens of history, distant and 19th century. “Irredentist”.. that is not a branch of oral surgery folks. VDH comes through with clarity and details. I especially like the point that irregular single soldiers with a modern simple hand launched weapon can not only be successful in frying millions of dollars of equipment, dozens of soldiers, with a single finger pull on the trigger. But can film it for world wide distribution in seconds and walk away intact.

It reminds me of an “expert” ex-military commentator saying on the MSM channel I was watching that those silly little MANPADS and anti-tank rockets were like BBs against a tank. Really, I don’t think so. The sophisticated electronics and design make them profoundly “on target” and lethal with little input from the humanoid on the trigger. He was wrong. Not BBs..

On the other hand let us not wave off Putin as a silly little dictator. He has his hands on bigger weapons spelled NUKES that have surely been modernized as well. It is smart for us to hear all sides of this Putin debate but remember he is dangerous. GW Bush may have said “I trust him - I can look in his eyes and see his soul.. “ Oh really, Bushes VEEP Cheney said at same time. “I can look in his eyes and I see a KGB officer.” Indeed. Let’s not play with poisonous snakes..
