Navarro arrested without judicial order

Peter Navarro, the 72-year-old retired business professor and former White House trade advisor to the Trump administration, was arrested last week at the Reagan National Airport in Washington. Navarro potentially faces years in prison for resisting a subpoena from the January 6 committee. The indictment charges him with contempt for refusing to comply with the House panel’s investigations of January 6th, 2021.
Navarro stated he would not comply or cooperate after former President Donald Trump invoked executive privilege. Typically, in this kind of situation, a judge must first rule on whether the privilege is valid before anyone can be compelled to testify on privileged matters. Navarro, however, was indicted immediately.
Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz noted that one generally cannot be held in contempt without a judicial order, which he felt made Navarro’s arrest “dangerous to democracy, dangerous to the rule of law, and dangerous to the concept of privilege.” He added that the indictment was “unconstitutional," and a "real scandal."
But what can be done? The Anguish and pain Navarro must be feeling being arrested!
