Poorly diagnosed, delayed treatment, permanent damage
Simply put, Lyme disease is a risk for those involved in outdoor activities. More common in the northeastern US..— look up where the town of Lyme is. Often spread by Deer Ticks, but other bugs can spread it. I think I may have had it about 18 months ago from a chigger bite, but recognized a target and got on the antibiotics quickly. One of my neighbors from about 45 miles away - is GW Bush. The ex President apparently got the disease and it was misdiagnosed for quite a while. Untreated, chronic symptoms can become permanent and include neurological and heart issues.
Lyme’s is caused by a bacterium called Borrelia burgdorferi. I found that out and didn’t thing much about it. I had never heard of Plum Island til I read this article. It appears the military of the US has been messing with disease for offensive military purposes for a long time. Heck, even during WWII we considered using anthrax on the Germans. Apparently an island off the coast of England is where it was tested and last I heard it was still uninhabitable.
A few days ago I ordered a book entitled “Bitten” about Lyme’s disease. Lo and behold I found it in this article. This article is worth a read…
