Crashing the Ship of State

A lesson in Energy management - and a note about an American hero or two.

A foundational book to read is “Boyd - The Fighter pilot who changed the Art of War”. Superbly written by Robert Coram. It details the history of an enlisted man who flew combat airplanes superbly and eventually got a degree and became the man who stopped the onslaught of “Bomber command” in Air Force Decision Making. General Curtis LeMay ( a patient of mine in the USAF when we cleaned out his carotid artery.. smoked way too many cigars!) had a huge Legislative influence and built up the Strategic Air Command (SAC) at the expense of smaller airplanes.. fighters. John Boyd knew how to “Fight” with a smaller aircraft and discovered energy management was the key. Think about it - Don’t you want to be in a fighter pilot that is higher in altitude to your opponent - and more agile and can turn inside the circle of what he can turn in, and also be up “in the sun” where he cannot see you. Eventually Boyd penned the “OODA” loop. Observe, orient, decide, and act. His teaching made it to the fighter weapons school and also onto the drawing boards of aircraft fighter designers who then turned out the F-15 and F-16 fighters. He had such an impact, a large unofficial squad of “Acolytes” who followed his teaching followed and continued his line of thinking and teaching. All of this is to say that energy management is the key to being in control of and winning with an airplane, or even the ship of state.

So imagine.. you are in an airplane, whether it be a Cessna or a B-1 and the engines sputter (in a piston airplane) or flame out (in a jet). You are going down, period. If you do not understand energy management - you will stall, spin and hit the ground at stall speed… say 50 mph in a Cessna…. and still die as dead as if you hit the ground at 230 mph. Energy management… is the key.

Well, boys and girls.. more on the youngsters ability to appreciate this, later down below.. but point is.. We in the USA haven’t built a refinery to turn out “gasoline and diesel” since 1977. Biden has cut drilling across America, Biden has prevented any further “fracking” - more on that in another post. Biden has pulled the throttles on the ship of state back to idle cut-off.. We the voters, as pilot in command need to grab the controls and upright this deadly death spiral of the United States.

Again, in 2020 when the nation was shut down the use of fossil fuels dropped exponentially yet CO2 still continued to rise. But let me be more specific….The point is our education system has failed to properly train up Americans for the 21st century. Yes they love video games, yes, some may be able to write code in C++ But hand them a soldering iron and a handful of transistors and capacitors and resistors… And ask them to build something……Clueless. Sure they can buy a computer, and a mother board, and a chip to plug in, and a memory board to alter the memory available and a power supply to run it and follow the direction. But to understand how to do it at the basic levels.. not so much. I won’t even bring up morse code…But the Russians and eastern block countries have a lot of proficient morse code ham operators!

And our clueless US youngsters want to be weather forecasters and support green energy - why? Because a liberal politician says so? These young voters are clueless… They do not understand weather, nor energy, nor pollution. Why don’t they protest about all the plastic in the ocean that has made a floating trash pile island in the Pacific Ocean southwest of California?

I am no climate scientist.. I defer to Joe Bastardi - the founder of the Weather Channel and frequently on conservative talk radio AM or XMSR. Superbly spoken man. Oh wait.. he is older like me. And Conservative. An explains the Green silliness away quickly.

Being a pilot, I have many pilot friends and recently a younger pilot joined in and four of us at the six seat table were not only pilots but licensed amateur radio operators. We were not only talking airplanes, but radio tales of the latest island nation we contacted etc… and the youngster quipped.. “How boring..why don’t you just call them on a cellphone?” He went over like a T__d in a punch bowl. Doubt he will be invited back.. Point is yes, we all had been doing morse code and radio for >50 years (62 years for me)… and yes we can still use a soldering iron, and yes we are more likely to read daily news like this:

persists in a southward orientation (-Bz) with IMF field strength of 
about 5 nanoteslas for several hours coincident with the effects of an 
Earth directed coronal hole high speed stream. More frequent, longer 
duration, minor to severe geomagnetic storms may be triggered suddenly 
and unpredictably when the IMF persists in a southward orientation (-
Bz) with IMF field strength mildly stronger than 5 nanoteslas for 
several hours or more coincident with the effects of an Earth directed 
CME (faster than 500 km/second). “

So.. next time you are in a “discussion” with a climate activist “youngster” - Say “wait a minute - professor - tell me wait CME stands for and what is a nanotesla.. or even a Tesla?” The room will suddenly get quiet. So then ask the obvious bottom line question… so Carbon Dioxide Emissions are bad? So why don’t you just hold your breath? Or you can tell me what is the biggest blocker of Sunshine rays? Not CO2, but water vapor.. so go out in the rain outside and say “Clouds go away and come again another day” or some nursery rhyme like that. Then tell him. when the CME hits all your electronic play toys will be boat anchor trash.

Point is - energy management (reduction) is part of the global effort to put the brakes on the ship of state called the United States of America. Our adversaries don’t need nukes, they are winning in the halls of congress and in your local voting booths when the socialists running the voting, and setting up American Oligarchs like the Biden, and Pelosi.. Let’s call them what they are. America is not much different from Russia you see.. Oligarchs are in control with state funded Gestapo. (Spell that FBI or KGB.. doesn’t matter)

Oh, to tie this all together.. Four Star General LeMay was a ham radio operator! He put HF SSB transmitters on bombers (Collins equipment) to demonstrate comm between South America, Europe and Japan as well as USA - simultaneously. to congressmen.The sunspots were good in those days.. So when he was in the hospital… I didn’t dare suggest he put out his cigar! But I brought him a small hand held 2 meter transceiver and offered it to him to use why recovering from his surgery.. He grunted and said “Boy take that toy away.. I only like to operate CW (morse code) on the HF (high frequency) bands.” To which I stood straight and said “Yes Sir - right away” and was gone. Awesome experience.
