Antique/Vintage doctor comments

I have told medical students and residents that almost everything I learned in med school and Residency - is not used much any more. That is a good thing in that we do most everything quicker, less invasive, with better results... until a patient needs the antique operation.. and the younger doctor has never seen one. A real conundrum in medical education. A fellow "vintage" surgeon friend of mine in San Antonio said they would likely keep him on call from his wheelchair in the nursing home to come help in those instances! Accurate comment I would say.
